Going Home
by Bob Lucas

I been waiting, hesitating cannot find my way
Too many words nothing left to say
I am striving and contriving to conjure up a phrase
Down in a hole that cleverness portrays

(Chorus)
I’ve no voice that that knows these things
I reckon as near as I could say it
A couple of words that don’t betray it
You come to the party then your going home

Had a mother and a father travel on before
Eternity right outside my door
I can’t touch them but I feel them helping every day
I can’t explain I’ll say it anyway

Clever scholars earn their dollars solving mystery
They’ll sell you things you could have had for free
While in the stillness of a morning, like the rolling sea
A tide will rise and wash all over me that tells me

All the travelers and unravelers wondering the same
Where do we go and from where we came
Be it tragic chance or magic evolved or divine
A light goes on we begin to shine
