About Bob Lucas
Bob Lucas is a songwriter, actor, singer & multi-instrumentalist. He has lived in Logan County, Ohio for the last 15 years working for the locally known as well as nationally famous Mad River Theater Works where he holds the position of music director and songwriter in residence. While at Mad River he has written music for and performed in 25 original plays.
Before coming to Ohio, Lucas formed the ground breaking folk group “Eclectricity,” touring internationally with famed actor and singer Theodore Bikel. As a songwriter he has achieved success having his songs recorded by international recording stars such as Alison Krauss, New Grass Revival, Sam Bush and Kathy Chiavloa. His debut solo album, “The Dancer Inside You” received a four star rating from Downbeat Magazine. Recently two more of his songs have been released on the award winning Alison Krauss and Union Station album “New Favorite”.
He released a CD of his music called Rushsylvania, named after the town he lived in for more than 10 years. This record was much-loved and it sold out, so he just re-released the album in 2005. In '03, Bob & his daughter Chloe Manor put out a CD called Kin, a mix of duets and solos they have performed over the years and songs they have written for this project in particular. Find more info & sound files from both CDs right here on this web site.
Bob has been on the faculties of the Augusta Heritage Center, Pinewoods, Swannanoa and Common Ground On The Hill music camps teaching songwriting, singing, banjo, guitar and fiddle. He has performed at festivals all across the U.S and Canada.
About the Duo: Bob & Chloe
Bob Lucas and Chloe Manor began performing together 18 years ago when Chloe was 6 years old and performing in the Mad River Theater Works production of ” A Christmas Carol”. Bob comes from a rich “singing family” tradition where music was the favorite pastime. Their musical friendship has grown and blossomed and charted it’s own course much the same as the Wisteria vine that grows outside the old brick house where they came to live together for many years. What started as just friendship turned into a father/daughter relationship and now here they are all these years later with a new CD in hand. These two have weathered many storms and the shelter for them both has always been the music. It’s easy to see the pride each of them has in the other and in what they make together.
